Brittany & Wyatt were one of our very first clients when we shot their engagement session back in 2020 and we were thrilled when they asked us to shoot their wedding! They had plans for a big wedding, but 2020 had other ideas and they down-sized their original plans, deciding to have their big day on the family acreage with just their nearest and dearest, saving the big party for another day.
And this acreage really was something else! Brittany’s family have farmed the land in this area for generations and they have a beautiful stretch of land that backs right onto a National Park. It really was a stunning location for a wedding, and honestly on this photographers opinion, there is no place better. Acreage weddings allow all involved to be completely comfortable in their surroundings and in general just have such a relaxed vibe. The beautiful landscape coupled with the families touch over the generations is a wedding photographers paradise and we can’t wait for the acreage weddings we have booked in 2022.
In keeping with the relaxed vibe, when I turned up to take some shots of the boys getting ready, they were sitting on the deck enjoying a couple of breakfast beers. They were a groomsman short, who, it turned out, had broken down in Tofield after making a trip into town to retrieve an iron. A man dispatched to jumpstart the missing groomsman (and said iron) and everyone had an excuse to soak up a little more morning sunshine. I often feel like I get the easy ride with the boys, while Pegs is rushing around with the ladies in full-on wedding morning mode- and this was a prime example! A quick phone call with Pegs revealed the girls camp were having their own little hiccups, something to do with chasing down escaped cattle. The morning had a little more drama left for us. The father of the groom convinced the Winnebago delivering the groom and his groomsmen to eventually start, and they were on their way! I’m not planning on describing the whole day in this detail but I just thought the mornings events were perfectly fitting, as this is Brittany and Wyatt. Through all of this Wyatt’s smile never faltered, nor did he seem like he had a worry in the world. Probably, because he was about to marry the love of his life, and what could possibly dampen spirits on such a day.
