Rules of Engagement

Engagement Sessions

Rule #1: There are no rules!

When it comes to your engagement session-how you’d like that to look is up to you…and if you need a bit of help we are here too!

Q: Where?

Location is everything (but not in the sense that you may think).

A: When it comes to the where-you don’t have to be in a grand, picturesque place at all! Personally, for your engagement session, we prefer a place which is special to you as it allows you to be comfortable in a place that you know, where we can truly see your personalities shine through as well as capture genuinely special moments!

It could be anywhere, doing anything like where you met (and went to school together).

The University of Alberta

It could be somewhere that is a part of you, like your family acreage…show us around-we love to getting to know you better!

Beaver County, AB.

Q: When should you book your engagement session?

A: Short story long, whenever you’d like! We shoot engagement sessions in every season, rain or shine. Keep this in mind when you want your session as it will contribute to the mood/ambience of your engagement session as well as give us a chance to prepare to either help keep you warm or cool, whatever the case.

Louise McKinney Waterfront Park & Griesbach, Edmonton, AB.

You could even keep your engagement session close to home…it IS where you feel most comfortable afterall, right?

Beaver County, AB.

Do you have a favourite season?

Let’s do it! We are always up for anything and love planning how your engagement session will look with you in order to make your vision a reality! Planning allows us time to pick up any props or accessories if needed, scout locations and get in touch with any businesses for permission.

Some prefer having their engagement session in the autumn, when the colours are turning, right before Halloween when the scent of leaves fill the air…and when it’s a little spooky and crisp. Some prefer the fresh greenery and cherry blossoms that envelope the air after a long Alberta winter, some prefer having their engagement session in the cold of winter to be able to play in the snow (and find an excuse to keep each other warm) and others prefer frolicking in the long grasses and wheat fields or the waters of summer.

Whatever your preference for your engagement session may be-we would love to make it happen!

Beaverhill Bird Observatory, Beaver County, AB.

Q: Why is an engagement session needed?

A: Although it’s not an absolute must-we HIGHLY recommend having an engagement session as it allows us the opportunity to get to know you better as individuals as well as a couple, allows you the opportunity to see how we work AND can help calm any nerves there may be prior to your wedding day!

We ALWAYS encourage bringing your furry family along with you on your engagement session as they are an important part of your life and who you are…why not?

Not sure where to go?

No worries-we’ve got you! Sometimes it’s nice to go somewhere fresh and new for your engagement session…or quiet if you should happen to be a bit shy in public, around people or flat out do NOT like to people at all (zero judgement).

It could even be in a place that is in your future, like where you will build your future home-absolutely anything goes!

Your engagement session can be as casual as you’d like-we DO want you to enjoy yourselves afterall!

Sylvan Lake, AB.

Q: Can it be done somewhere we spend a lot of our time together?

A: Of course-we always encourage it! Why? Because seeing you comfortable and in your element allows us opportunity to see your genuine selves…and we love that!

Q: Can we stay close to home?

A: Of course!

We’d like for you to be as comfortableor as adventurous as possible, however that may look!

Q: Can we meet halfway?

A: You bet!

Alex and I love a good road trip and love revisiting places that are close to our hearts…but we also love to explore new places for engagement sessions-let’s go!

Q: What time should we book?

A: We recommend golden hour!

We recommend golden hour as you get the best light…and it’s kind of romantic but we cannot always rely on the weather, especially in Alberta so we encourage you not to be discouraged and go ahead with your session even if it happens to rain! We’ve got umbrellas and would love to do a rainy engagement session-it’s on our session bucket list!

If neither of these are an option-no worries-we work together and with the light and location to be able to give you wonderful engagement photos…planning is key!

Q: How?

A: Let’s get in touch!

We will send out an email with a link to book your engagement session but you are also more than welcome to contact us via email, facebook or instagram to talk details and we will book you in…exciting!
