Our lovely couple celebrated their elopement in style with a golden hour photo session starting in the River Valley and ending on the roof at the Muttart Conservatory in Downtown Edmonton. They had already eloped elsewhere and trusted us with the fine details of the session completely. So we decided on a golden hour session, split between a couple of our go-to Edmonton photo locations!

After meeting our beautiful newlyweds we made our way down to one of the many beaches strung along the river valley. Our couple were so natural with each other and we got so many sweet shots in this part of the session. We asked them to tell us their story and a little about each other and captured some genuinely heartfelt moments while they shared.

When you’re choosing a location for you elopement, it’s important you feel comfortable placing trust in your photographer to take you to the best spots, during the best available light and make the most of your time! This particular spot has a multitude of options that can give your session a varied look and is known to get fabulous light in the evenings.

So the plan was to finish up on the Muttart Conservatory roof, which is the last stop as the light is best a little later up there than by the beach, and it totally worked out…by the time we made our way there (after a couple little stops on the way- see above) the sunlight had gone but we were left with that lovely soft last-light, which is probably my absolute fave if i had to pick! It has a way of enveloping the subject and adding a layer of emotion- throw some grain on the edits and I’m a happy guy!

We took some pictures and ended the night with an official first dance of theirs as a married couple! These were my favourite pictures of the session, the lights were starting to come on in the buildings over the river and I love the movie-esque vibes the whole scene is giving off. A&C were pretty comfortable around us by this point and were totally focussed on each other during the dance, making for some lovely moments brimming with emotion.
