We had the pleasure of meeting Aeyra & Thomas at a wedding that we were photographing for friends of theirs. They approached me, told me that they were getting married on September 16th and asked if we were free. I knew that we definitely were because it’s my birthday! We exchanged info and the rest is history!
We began our day at an airbnb loft in downtown Edmonton with a glamping theme and not only was it incredibly unique but the light was amazing!
We felt the pressure a bit because we knew that we were working against the clock as it was meant to thunderstorm with quite a bit of rain…and we prepared for it! Spoiler: it didn’t happen and we continue our perfect weather streak-yesss!
We made our way to the church, where we followed the sound of beautiful singing and it led us down a hallway to three lovely ladies practicing, then Aeyra made her way into the building and down the hallway, where we then set her and Thomas back to back for their first prayer, then it was ceremony time! The Church was filled with the smell of wood from floor to ceiling and Aeyra was beaming with anticipation as she was handed a microphone, ready to make her grand entrance: a song for her love as she walked down the aisle…how sweet!
As she made her way to Thomas, they were completely surrounded by the their friends and family and so much love!
After the pastor pronounced them husband & wife and shared their first kiss-everybody made their way outside for a group photo on the church steps (Alex ran across the street and shot through traffic for this one!).
Then it was game time! We had three locations to make it to in a much smaller window than we were used to but we were totally up for the challenge!
The first location brought us back to where they first met: McDonald’s, where they had a bit of fun over a shared ice cream. It was cuuute.
The second location brought us to a lookout point, looking out onto the River Valley where they come to celebrate every milestone in their relationship (this is where they got engaged!) and this was one of the biggest ones yet!
We got to capture them in a truly, deeply meaningful place for a pre-golden hour session…their spot.
They were also accompanied by a couple of coordinator friends and we may have had a little fun!
And the third location was where a lovely backyard reception was held, which consisted of a foot washing ceremony, a TON of singing, laughter, food and whole lot more love!
We even got to see a lot of familiar faces which doesn’t usually happen to us so it was really nice!
We were so thankful that they not only fed us but made us plates and made sure that we had time to eat.
To say that this next part surprised me would be an understatement. They called me up and the entire wedding sang me Happy Birthday and they gave me a gift; a Fiipino cookbook because I apparently LOVE Filipino food like a lot…and I may or may not have cried. OKAY-I definitely did! It was one of the sweetest and most thoughtful things anybody has ever done for me and I am incredibly thankful, from the bottom of my heart.
Does this make me an honorary Filipino now? :P
Aeyra & Thomas, It’s been an absolute pleasure meeting you, capturing your big day and getting to know you better!
We wish you a lifetime of singing and dancing, with loads of love and adventure in between!
